The I.D. was a splendid and remarkable book. Those that haven't read it, and are more than casual hi-tech investors, should do so.

I'd like to second that. It assisted me in understanding NTAP.

The question I am posing to you is, how important is Transmetas potential D.I.? Even if it is discontinuous, how important is the market and how large?

This is the question that I think has yet to be answered with Transmeta. As things stand, the small increment in power advantage is hardly likely to carve out a huge market for them, particularly as conventional technology will continue to push the performance demand up and the power consumption down in what they have available for the low power end of the market. If Transmeta really has a DI, not just an alternate way to get the same thing done, I think we either have yet to see that product and we have yet for it to be made clear what the unique value is that it is bringing to the new market that will be its foundation.
