To: Don Mosher who wrote (34074 ) 10/30/2000 2:13:30 PM From: Apollo Respond to of 54805 Don....Project Network. I'd like to thank you for your hard work and eloquence wrt to the Yahoo report. Since I was one of those who suggested you summarize your reports (for those of us with Day Jobs and other time commitments <g>), I want you to know that I appreciate your efforts. Having read your "executive summary", I can say that I have a little better appreciation of network effects, and a much better understanding of Yahoo. I especially appreciate that you were able to weave together concepts and thinking from different sources. I know that took a lot of time. I can see how some might feel your report was overly exuberant. I had the same sense from your WIND reports. I think you are exuberant about Yahoo, and when mixed together with your writing skills and thoughtfulness, well.........it just comes out giddy as hell. <g> I will say, in honesty, that I didn't appreciate much in the report as to the negatives, actual or perceived, or to pitfalls. So, as a so-called Thread Elder I would like to: 1. Thank you for your hard work and contributions, and would hope that you will continue to give to this thread as you so generously have already. 2. Thank you for the summary, which I think is important. 3. Encourage you to phrase your comments, particularly when featured as part of a "Report", to be as objective and even-handed as possible. I think the positives in the Y! Report were accompanied by high and multiple superlatives, and the negatives seemed to be unstated, or understated. But on the whole, understand that this and other contributions are highly valued, and my comments are simply constructive and meant to refine. I agree with UF about the need to be or articulate in a way that is objective, especially the Report formats. For example, I find Tinkershaw's posts this past week on Rambus to be exciting and persuasive. For the last week, I've had trouble trying to determine if I like Rambus because of the fundamentals, or because of Tinkershaw's persuasive writing prose. Same for you........after reading your WIND report, I was ready to sell my child and invest the proceeds in Wind (hey, just a bad joke), so excited was I by your writings. So, this may be what UF is getting at. Your power to persuade, by your intellect and writing skills, may blind impressionable investors to the raw facts on which you are reporting. Thanx again, Apollo
