I think a combined Intc/AMD investment is a pretty good bet.

While my enthusiasm for AMD comes and goes and comes again, I believe without a doubt that intel is a bad investment (but not necessarily a bad company). The valuation is just too high- PE ~= 30 2001 earnings + plus gains from investments ~= 25% of earnings.


Eric,

That's why I would buy it for my 401 rather than my current account. I think long term....inspite of all our criticism....Intel's entry into other businesses will eventually lead to a higher growth rate.

That coupled with its relative stability and profit consistency is why I would put it into my 401.
