I haven't heard of such a thing. I live in a city and all schools are funded equally as far as I know. I do think there is, because of typical governmental waste, a disparity in the amount of funding that actually gets into the classroom. I read an article recently that said just under 50% of educational funding actually goes into the classroom in public schools. One thing we have that seems insane to me is that a janitor earns more than a teacher. That seems way out of line. Anyway, this article said in a private school nearly 90% of the funding goes to the classroom. As you can see, I have little faith that government will be good stewards of anything. I think if we could identify and retain the money the fed wastes we could give a gigantic tax cut while funding all meaningful programs generously. Recently, O'Reilly of FOX was talking about a discovery in the Department of Agriculture. They cannot locate 5 BILLION dollars. Also, they have a vehicle on the books for over 5 million dollars and a magnifier for like 90000.. He said at the same time you could find similar mismanagement in the Department of Energy, Department of Education and others. My faith in government is very minimal. Look at Bill Richardson. They knew of a problem at Las Alamos for many months before any action was taken. Again, we are compromised. Actually, I feel like the American people have been raped by the Clinton-Gore administration along with their merry men in the house and senate.

First, municipalities should not be wholly immune to the results of policies and maladministration that chase the tax base out. Second, even acknowledging a state responsibility for shoring up some of the poorer school districts, it should be only insofar as educational goals and "standard of care" are at stake. If suburban high schools want to waste money on swimming pools, that does not mean that inner city schools must have them.Third, when the issue in an inner city school district is basic skills, it is idle to worry over internet access, which, in any case, I can tell you from experience largely goes to waste in suburban schools. The adaptation of resources to need is much more important. Fourth, these are public policy decisions that should be made in the legislatures, with the participation of relevant executive officials, but do not particularly belong in the courts, especially if the court is going to use a mechanical notion of "equality" as a proxy for equity. Finally, the problem of the inner- city schools may not exercise the country club class, but they certainly exercise movement conservatives, and are the real concern behind vouchers and charter schools..........

Why don't you volunteer your liberal ass to go teach in an inner-city school? Where are these teachers going to come from goron? They can't even keep enough in schools as it is now. I guess gore will just snap his fingers and they will suddenly appear. Every teacher I know who has been in the system for 5 years or longer dreads going to school. They are looking elsewhere. The liberals lack of discipline is what has destroyed the public school system in the inner cities. Money has nothing to do with it. Washington D.C. spends more money per student than any school district in the nation, yet where do they rank. Near the bottom if not at it.knc
