I am very sure that oil prices are the cause of out current economic climate. Nothing changes until oil moves back down.

I clearly remember Reagan implementing some programs targeted at cutting back on OPEC oil dependence in the early 1980s which had the effect of lower oil prices and a cooling of the double digit inflation and double digit interest rates which he inherited from Carter.

That coupled with his 10% across the board TAX CUT for all working Americans ignited the economy which we are enjoying today. Clintons shutting down of American oil rigs and placing strict limits on domestic oil exploration is what started this latest cool down of our economy.
