We do, though, need to get as many of those cheap Saturday night specials off the streets as we can. Which is why I'm all for gun buyback programs. Then, on the other hand, the geniuses in the Kentucky Legislature passed a law during the last session in which all guns confiscated by police departments MUST be turned over to the state police, to be sold at auction. The intent is for the gun sale proceeds to be used to buy bulletproof vests for small, rural sheriff's departments and police departments. Virtually every police department in the state opposed the law. But yet it passed, probably because of some shenanigans pulled by the NRA.
