Millions of investors are losing billions of dollars based on predictions by research firms which are, at best, 50% wrong.

Please explain this to me. JDSU has appreciated 393% over the last 18 months. The only investors who are underwater are the ones that bought in y2k. If they are truly long-term investors and believe all the optical growth projections are conservative, they shouldn't worry too much. On the other hand, if they were looking for a quick score this should teach them that there is risk in the market.

I don't think the research firms should be blamed. They can't predict the future; they just try to project it.
