"Alcatel is expecting 2001 revenue growth to
be above market with early indications showing growth in our Telecom business of at least 25%."
Telecom segment, which accounted for 86% of total revenue in Q3 will be the only ALA will have starting FY2001- energy unit IPO.

Hey Z, not to rain on your parade but what would have been ALA's telecom segment increase YoY WITHOUT newbridge & other acquisition contribution?

It's important to look at organic growth. "Buying" top line growth is not as impressive as we all know.

Do you have this info?

I also saw a report that ALA lost market share in optics transport space in the recent qtr ended Sept 30. What do you make of that? LU and ALA were the major market share losers -- presumably lost it to NT, CIENA, & SYCAMORE but probably most to NT.

Also how do you see ALA protecting it's optics revenue from the Submarine sector now that NT is going back into that space after their non-compete period has expired. Do you see ALA losing a big chunk of that optical revenue contribution next year?

Yup, pretty happy with ALA today Zybslaw. I think it might actually be said that ALA was largely responsible for the general rally today. Hope it can continue.
