Maybe it is... Maybe Microsoft users think "Easier - good!", whereas those knowing *nix think "Now MSFT reached Unix level on that, too..."

In fact, after I started learning Linux after a whole life in MSFT hands, I tend to understand less of what MSFT says. Maybe it's not a change at MSFT but a change in my knowledge.

MSFT focuses on apps, whereas *nix often focuses on data. And as a clever guy said once: "Show me your code and hide your data, and I will be clueless. Show me your data and hide your code, and the code will be obvious." Maybe Ballmer heard that and introduced XML... ;-)
