Hi Keith,
It is interesting, should have been done a long time ago. That's the reason I have gotten out of all MFs except for index funds. They have very little in the way of Capital gains at the end of the year. There will be quite a few folks this year who will have lost money on their funds, but still have to pay Uncle Sam for capital GAINS.
Not too long ago 20th Century Ultra declared a gain of 10%. 30k in the fund would have eaten up the 3000 they're talking about.

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the lead on that article. That will certainly help things a lot for folks with taxable accounts. It reminds me of when I started to buy mutual funds for my kids (about 12 years ago) and how it irked me to pay cap. gain tax on distributions on those starter accounts.

Let's hope it makes it way through congress and becomes law.

I've always said that the tax code should be reviewed by a child psychologist. Who ever designed it must have been a dolt. Any class room teacher could tell the IRS that you don't punish the good kids and pamper the bad ones unless you want chaos in the end.

Best regards, Tom
