CREE--Cree, Inc. Announces Two-For-One Stock Split
DURHAM, N.C., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE - news) today announced that its Board of Directors has approved a two-for-one stock split. The record date for the stock split will be December 1, 2000. Certificates representing the additional shares will be distributed on or about December 8, 2000. The Company expects its common stock to begin trading on a post-split basis on December 11, 2000.

Shareholders of record at the close of business on December 1, 2000 will be issued a certificate representing one additional share of common stock for each share of common stock then held. The stock split will be effected through an amendment of the articles of incorporation not requiring shareholder approval. The number of shares of common stock outstanding will increase to approximately 71.4 million as a result of the split.

North Carolina-based Cree, Inc. develops and manufactures semiconductor materials and devices based on silicon carbide (SiC), gallium nitride (GaN) and related compounds.
