Doesn't Hector get all kinds of huge benefits if he's not CEO in 2001? I had thought there was some kind of promisary thing going on there, but I don't quite remember.

IMO, that would be a bad example of buying on the rumour, and selling on the (good) news. I'd see his retirement as one less significant problem which AMD has to work through in order to get fairly valued.
