jhp, the argument that "gee, you are lucky, don't try to improve things" is flat, imho. i realize extremely well how fortunate we are in the us - at least as much as one can without experiencing the "other side" that so many people define as reality. let me take your apparent argument to the extreme. why try to improve the murder rate by putting killers in jail... go see the world and you'll realize how lucky you are (even w/ the high murder rate)... being lucky and working to improve processes are absolutely not mutually exclusive.
