<< I think your timing may be off by about a year. I recall that Tom told people to sell their Intel stock and buy AMD shortly after the Athlon started selling. >>

There's an article online where he's pumping AMD in Oct of 98, there was at least one more article which I can't find reference to on his site anymore, but I specifically remember one of the quotes in it. Something to the effect of "That's why I recommend to everyone I know to start trading in their intel shares for AMD shares". It was at this time that I bought my first AMD shares, which doesn't really upset me today, since they're above what I paid for them.

He did get really down on AMD after the k6-3 came out though, so I'll give him some credit for that.

<< The fact is that Tom is not biased in either direction. He just happens to have massive convictions about who is the best at a given time. If AMD is slightly better, he will scream and rant and shout about how Intel processors are crap. If Intel is slightly better, he will scream and rant and shout about how AMD processors are crap. >>

I believe there is some truth to that, but I can think of several times he set up benchmarks that were slanted. Remembering when the ATI rage fury maxx came out, it beat the geforce sdr in almost all benchmarks on the other hardware sites, and on tom's site it only one 1 benchmark vs the sdr geforce.
