This change could not have happened without Jerry Sanders pointing the AMD ship in the "right" and seeing that it remains on course. I'm not saying that Jerry is the perfect CEO or the perfect human or anything close to that, but I give him the respect for what he has accomplished. It ain't braggin' if you've done it and Jerry has done it! >> AMD has turned around, because they have a good product. They have a good product because of Dirk Meyer (and probably a few other key engineers). If we look at the marketing, product timing, and public relations of AMD over the past year, they've all been poor. The company is not operating effectively on many fronts. The manufacturing and technology are doing well, but I'd give credit to the engineers not to Jerry Sanders. << They've been plenty rude to him. I wouldn't take their guff and I hope you wouldn't either. Play the game the way the ANALysts and others wish and you wind up being pimped by them forever. Life's too short for that. The ANALysts are not what business is about, engineering, production, and sales are. ANALysts are a group of folks in a sideshow tent that never get their hands dirty actually doing anything in this world except passing judgement on those that do. When they are rude, give it right back to them! And more power to Jerry Sanders for doing just that. >> I'd rather have a higher stock price then have Jerry win some macho pissing contest. He's not just being defensive. He's walking around with a chip on his shoulder trying to pick a fight with any analyst that asks a question. I agree with your assessment of the worth of analysts, however, the companies that don't go out of their way to pick fights with all of them typically get much better multiples, and I buy stock to make money, not to win some jihad Jerry has against intel and the analyst community.
