Work on W-CDMA was started in 1993 by DoCoMo.

An NTT's CEO's recent confession clearly illustrates that they are little closer now than they were in 1993. They may have the easy part - the basestations - along in development, but the devil is in the handsets.

wCDMA is slipping into the horizon. Nothing but a wet dream - without SpinCo. Gilder proves prescient.

And not even SpinCo can help them with their GPRS handsets... pathetic failures.
