T, Colleges can't send you to the front lines with no backup if you flunk your classes. Incentives are great to do well at the language schools. Actually, one reason I wanted the language school so badly was that I had to have one to graduate from Cal State, and I was lousy at them. It isn't quite as hard when you have that incentive plus 8 hours a day of nothing else to study. The language school, added to another 9 credit units I got in the Phys. Ed. Category just for being in the military, was worth nearly a whole year of credit for me. Not to mention the GI Bill. In fact, it would have been the greatest deal of all time if being in the Army, itself, didn't suck like a vacuum cleaner. <g>
