Ted, it has to do with most of the funds having Oct. 31st as their end of yr. The funds normally go on a Nov. 1st to Oct. 31st yr.

What has everyone nervous is that the rally is very late in coming this year. So who knows whats happening.<

Most of the bear markets, 1946,1957,1960,1966, 1974, 1987,1990 and 1998, all ended in Oct. It is technically still Oct. for 8 more hrs. I would hate to have to wait until next Oct. to end the bear market. That info comes from Yale Hirsch's Stock traders almanac.
