I agree that the "Heather has two Mommies" stuff is noxious. In my experience, all of this attention to homosexuality has not made children more tolerant, instead they are likelier to taunt one another along those lines, or to honestly worry unnecessarily about themselves or their friends. They also waste too much time on pc stuff in social studies, where giving every one equal time is more important then learning the main story of civilization, or, if one prefers, the three main civilizations: Mediterranean/European; Indian; and Chinese. (Some might want to include the Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs, although there is less material to teach).

I also don't mean to imply that middle class parents should not be able to use vouchers (in fact, it would reduce a lot of controversy). It is just that most middle class parents are fairly content with their children's schools, the one's who are up the wall are responsible parents in the cities.
