sure, it could be. but the market hasn't performed according to election year lore all year long.

if i see the CoT's on Friday with the commercial net short covered, i'll be more eager to agree.

in any case, i recently bought a bunch of beaten down techs (i posted the list here when i did) and i sure can't complain thus far.

i'm just very wary of the consensus...remember, bear markets can be very tricky....

Ironically- I just re-read parts of the 4 yr. cycle article this evening. Did you know there's never been a bear market low in the 4th year of the presidential cycle, post 1942?

With the low in '98 setting the 4 yr. cycle bottom, we've probably got another year of upward bias ahead. Odds of a big bear do increase next year however, like you said.
