On the surface it would seem to be an easy task, just increase the Front Side Bus (FSB) or the multiplier. However, it depends on a lot of different factors. First the PIII is multiplier locked so that's not an option. Next FSB may be increased if your motherboard has the capability of the higher speed. There are also the issues of the other boards in the system, memory, video etc., are they capable of the higher bus speeds. Finally, the capability of the CPU to attain the desired speed. Cooling, need lots of cooling at that speed. Here are some links I used to learn about overclocking my CPUs, a Pentium Pro 200 @ 230Mhz and a Pentium 233MMX @ 266.
