Some time ago a Nortel executive got himself quoted saying something like the current wireless megabyte costs $.38 and we are aiming to get that down to $.04.

These were the stats I was trying to remember....the reason I was surprised by the 15 cents a Megabyte was that I thought the 4 cents target was far out in the future (possibly as a result of a move to an IP based network). If KDDI can charge 15 cents a megabyte profitably with 1xrtt, then HDR should provide another huge decrease in costs.

Anyone know the stats for Megabyte usage per month on average for 56K dial-up users? I'm trying to get an idea of how much carriers would have to charge for flat-rate net access....

The move by KDDI is incredibaly progressive....it looks like they may be finally serious about gaining marketshare.
