That should be an option that's on the table. The fact is that, as an electorate, we haven't had the discussion since the 60s (I assume there was one then?). I suspect, though, that there would be a strong consensus in favour of some public safety net.

Isn't that what politics ought to be about? Citizens reaching a consensus about what responsibilities are most appropriately delegated to government? I might not agree with the consensus, but if it's reached through an open, credible, fair and thorough process, I'm more than willing to respect the outcome. The alienation in this country today stems from the lack of that process. Instead, anyone who questions the decisions taken by the PM and his clique in the PMO/PCO is somehow "unCanadian".

HRH Margaret Attwood was interviewed last night on CBC radio. She said she reviewed the Alliance Party website and there was nothing put aside in their budget considerations for art and culture. By culture she means people like herself living in cloisters in downtown Toronto, Montreal or Quebec. I don't know what she means when she says art but I can only presume she means things like "The Voice of Fire" or other new wave crap, that those in the know want to impose on their forced audience. I don't want to be their forced audience and I sure as hell don't want to pay for the ticket. If I had any doubt who I was going to vote for it evaporated when Maggie Attwood opened her yap.

Lino,

You may find that for 2500 your medical treatment may only cover in grown toe nails.

The USA has the most expensive System in the G7 per cap..

You may not get to see the Doc you want if you don't have the money.....consider the following.

Extra $75 a month helps the medicine go down Controversy swirls as 'boutique' clinics dote on patients who pay more
USA Today; Arlington, Va.; Oct 30, 2000; Julie Appleby;

Words in Article: 2351

Abstract:
The doctor, Howard Maron, sits behind his elegant bird's-eye maple desk, wearing not a lab coat, but a crisp, white monogrammed shirt. His was the first such practice in Seattle, founded in 1996. His competitors say he and his partner charge $12,000 to $20,000 a year for their services, but Maron won't confirm that.

In January, after losing some patients to concierge practices in town, Virginia Mason decided to enter the market. Now, patients willing to pay $3,000 each or $6,000 a year for a family -- on top of regular insurance -- can join Virginia Mason's John Dare Center. It's been successful enough -- at its current enrollment, the program is bringing in more than $1.5 million annually in fees -- that the center is considering adding a third doctor.

I hope you can see the negative in this article. If you had the rest of this article you would understand. I am sure you will see that your 1500 won't be spent in Vagas !
