Donnie,

Question concerning extr and this is not whinning...just trying to learn from my mistakes. EXTR killed me, we wont go back over that whle story. I bought stock and calls (lots) when we had a big dip down to $90.00

Now, we have two major principals, both of which are correct and should be followed, yet can be quite contrasting in style.

A) Patience
B) Preserve capital

On one hand, we should not panic and sell on emotion. We should be patient, and wait for the rebound. On the other hand we have, dont mess around...limit your losses and get out if a position moves against you.

Both are right on...I have done both, and have been burned by both. I practiced patience with dell, cmgi and etc...got killed. Story is still out on others I am down, but being patient with. Others, I bailed when the position turned against me ( extr and etc...) and the stock came roaring back.

I guess I am just trying to figure out the proper mix of both principals. Had I been patient with extr, I would be sitting pretty. Yet, had I bailed on CMGI a long time ago, I would be sitting pretty. So how does one knucklehead like me know when to be patient and when to bail? Not really asking you...just asking in general and talking out loud. I've got to find a better way of figuring when to limit my loss and run and when to keep the faith and hang on.....
