AMD and many other semis are seeing institutional buying. Large blocks on the buy side are swamping out blocks on the sell side despite the renewed nervousness about semi and telecom sector growth. All this trash about "my chip is better than your chip" is a nice way to pass time and does have an influence on the flow of money into the sector, but contemplating this ad nauseum is far less important than technical and trading analysis of the sector and individual stocks imo. Go with the flow (the force!) of big money.
