Q: In some of the conversations with top-tier PC vendors, they have suggested that as some of the supplies improve from Intel, they might reduce AMD as percent of their total computer shipments. What impact will that have on AMD - does that change just your customer base, or does that have some financial impact?

The analyst was being a wiseguy.

Are you going to stop beating your wife?

Andreas, Believe me the last thing any vendor wants is a return to the goold old days when they depended on Intel for their high priced supply of CPUs.
As we speak Dell seems to be the only holdout left with the slow Intel parts.
How long that will last dog knows.

A: [Jerry Sanders] Well, first of all, I can't imagine a single one of our customers having said that. Rob, do you have any idea what this guy could be talking about?

How can you see Sander's response to the above question with deliberate FUD as rude? IMHO, the analyst question was a blatant attempt to create FUD, and he/she doesn't reserve any respect.

Any nice response from Sanders to that question could have given legs to the FUD that analyst tried to perpetrate.

How can you treat Sander's response to the above question with the sole intent of spreading FUD, as rude? IMHO, that analyst was trying to perpetrate FUD with that question, and he/she doesn't deserve any respect.

Any nice response from Sanders could have given legs to the FUD that the above question was leading to.

LoL That is hardly my description of rude. I say worse to my wife every day. That conversation came during the 2q-00 CC. and I heard it. I felt it was a ridiculous question;; sort of like me asking you "Do you beat your children more than once a week?" The guy asked Jerry what he would do when the OEMs cut back on AMD products because he felt the OEMs would go back to Intel. As we now know that supposition was wrong. If the analyst could have given a name, fine, but he didn't. To expect anyone to know the answer to that question without knowing who, or the size of the oem, or how many even is ridiculous.
