Re: You may believe this but I don't for a second [SMP chipset for Athlon ready to go months ago - we just haven't bothered to put it on a motherboard]

I have to agree with you on this one, but it's not nearly the blatant crap Intel spewed with its line "we've made lots of large cache Xeons over 700MHZ, we're just refusing to sell them as a favor to our customers."

I still get a good laugh out of that one.

Dan

Elmer, re: SMP delay and AMD's reasons - "You may believe this but I don't for a second."

Shrug.. I dont believe it one way or the other at the moment.. I'm just posting a couple of possible counter-points to your original post on here where you looked to be baiting Mr. Harris with that news.. which isnt as Aces said new news. You're free to draw your own conclusions... I certainly am not going to try and convince an acknowledged Intel booster and AMD skeptic of that when theres not enough evidence 1 way or the other for myself to take a stand on it. I just reported the hardware sites views as a public service to the thread, nothing more.

Myself... I follow the line that iXBT Labs says at the end of their report, "Well, we shall see (if AMD's explanation is true)"

Hmmm.. as I recall from being a lurker on here last August after the Athlon was announced.. werent you also on here bugging everyone about the Athlon getting announced and then apparently not having any MB support for a couple of months? That turned out ok for AMD - what makes you think this is any different?

Elmer, re <SMP> I have a question for you:
Do you happen to know why there is no
multiprocessor SPECxx numbers for all those
magnificent Intel SMP workstations?
