For those listening to the rebroadcast, his statements were during the Q&A session, right around the 1:44:00 timeframe. What's posted here and on SI covers about the bulk of it, but I was pleased with his conviction to Rambus. When the question was asked, it was a little unnerving for me, thinking what they might say, but Otellini was very forward about reinforcing their stance on Rambus, and went as far as saying that they plan to introduce new products with Rambus in the 2002 timeframe. According to Otellini, Rambus is the best solution for performance and it will be the memory solution for P4 for the bulk of 2001. His mention of SDRAM and their consideration of DDR was in line with the over-all presentation and their desire to get the P4 into all segments by the end of 2001. In the regular presentation, Paul stated that they expect to have a 2 GHz Pentium 4 ready by Q3 '01. That's nice, and in my opinion, it will motivate AMD to consider their own Rambus chipset soon. Over-all, it was a very positive and strong endorsement for Rambus technology, and I hope it will help clear the air. I'm going back to the broadcast and will report on his performance increase claims the P4 was going to have over the p3. I do have in my notes a 44% increase for Quake. In my opinion, assuming P4 launches smoothly, Intel will be ramping it up fast enough to really bring the RDRAM price down. I think we are on the 40 yard line now, going for the endzone. Good luck to all. Shish
