I think the most we can offer is that it does. "Life" is just an example of processes that reinforce their existence. Rust and corrosion is an example of a self-reinforcing process. When you get rust, it becomes hydrophilic and creates an environment where more rust can form. This type of simple chemical replication through more than one component is an example of "life-like" processes at their simplest. There are resonate modes that produce synergy. The more these are in play, the closer it is to "life". But I think life is an arbitrary distinction. Replication and transgenerational communication/memory is a mechanism, but it is more than that. It is a special fractalization technique to provide catalytic functions using information, IMO.
