Last night there was a program on --I forget which network, I was channelhopping--about just what we were discussing yesterday-- women in government.
It stated that women are finally gaining access to political funding and are starting to compete on equal footing in the political arena. Many more women are running for congressional seats this election and the program concluded that while this year may not be the year of the woman, it was definitely coming. The work of the past thirty years, which I mentioned yesterday, has finally placed women in not just more powerful positions, but stronger financial ones. They are beginning to support each other and those who best represent their views.
By the way, I thought the comments here to X by several men about how she was an example of why women shouldn't be elected were appallingly stupid. If you don't like X's political stand, fine, but to generalize that opinion to a judgment on our entire sex just reinforces that we still have a long way to go. I found it really offensive. There are plenty of men around whom I find alarmingly limited, but I don;'t judge the entire male population by their parochial views.
