I really wish we could vote for platform pieces instead of individuals. Nader just happened to have the most common ground.

That would be nice....but I want to do both...vote for the candidate and then indicate which platform issues you liked and those you didn't so the elected person understands what the mandate is. (Unfortunately, complicating the process would cause even less people to vote.)

Too often you vote for the lesser of two evils and the person thinks you think he/she is perfect and walks on water.

(glad we have the OT AMD thread) Me too.

ps: I haven't paid much attention to the political discussions, but what are you planning to do Ted?

What does it matter....the Mariners lost!! ;~))

Aside from that, I don't like to get into political discussions (or religious) for that matter....they seem to lead nowhere. However I plan to vote for Gore. He first impressed me when he attended the environmental summit in Japan a few years ago. So I began to see where he was on the issues. Then I was impressed with his speech at Columbine....not his oratory necessarily (although that was good) but what he said.

Since then, I have become more and more impressed. He seems to be a visionary in way that I have not seen a president be. And I think we need that in this country, particularly right now. Ten years of ongoing prosperity I think mask some serious divisions ideologically and culturally that exist in the US. I think we have to move up to the next level (whatever that might be)and we need someone with vision to do it. JMHO FWIW.

BTW aren't you from ID originally? Lewiston? Well you might be surprised to hear that the Census thinks Boise was the 4th fastest growing metro area in the country during the 90's. Can you believe that?

I was pretty surprised.
