Yes, the "he hit me first" arguement for continuing generations of idiotic war. A politically incorrect solution to problems that fit in that category would be to arm both sides to the hilt with non-nuclear weapons, or alternatively neutron bombs so that regional infrastructure would be left intact, and let them kill themselves and remove unborn future generations from lives of misery. Bitter medicine, yes. But it would get a perennial trouble spot like the middle east out of the world's hair for a good couple hundred years. It would also create secluded beachfront property.
