I say it depends on the case and the lawyers. I've recouped lots of money - money that I had written off as lost. The guy who says no one makes any money except the lawyers who get rich - is flat out WRONG.

I participate in class actions when I believe my legal rights have been violated by company executives- where there seem to be crooked executives who illegally manipulate sales, earnings, inventory, press releases, etc. for their own benefit and to the detriment of the small stockholder. To me it's not about my recouping my losses. It's that somebody has got to hold these executives accountable for their actions and provide some sort of check and balance to the even more outrageous behavior we would see from some of those who presumably have a fiduciary responsibility to all stockholders.
