I've done this twice. It works. Briefly. By the time you've added all the stuff you really want back in...the damn thing is overloaded again and consistently crashes.

Robin,
If your PC is over a year old, and I believe you said it is several years old, you can probably end all your problems by formatting your hard drive and re-installing everything from scratch. Most people don't know that and buy a new PC to fix a software problem.
