I have never understood why the Australian insist on hedging in $A when gold is tradded worldwide in $US.
They tend to hedge near $A500, which has worked well in the past, but with the $A near $US0.52, gold is at $A520

Anyway, with a weak $A these firms are making good profits and some (Goldfields, Sons of Gwalia) are close to 52 week highs on the ASX.
