I'm speculating here, but don't forget muskrat would have a very large on-die L2 and AMD has never shown their ability to manufacture very large caches. Couple that with the mysteriously low output or K7 processors from their 2 large fabs and the continued problems with getting SMP to work (next summer at best) and you have a recipe for trouble.
