flapjack, I think differently on this matter. I believe that "big business" does in many cases support the democrats for one simple reason, ACCESS. By contributing to the people like Gore they are able to have great access and assistance in manipulating the tax code and other areas of value to the "fat cats." In my opinion, the liberals (in most cases, democrats) have these constituencies, they have the very rich who support them because they can manipulate them and gain favor in the tax code and various regulations and variances, thereby becoming above the law. The "fat cats" are the benefactors and financial supporters of the Gore's and Clinton's. Then you have the poor who are "programmed" and kept believing they are unable to achieve and be self sufficient. Their other constituencies are government workers who want to "feather bed" and realize the Gore's are the supporters of big, fat government and that is where their bread is buttered. Then, you have the people, like union people, who are distrusting and have a view of wanting the maximum benefits for the minimum effort. I hope that isn't you but I do believe in many cases unions to not promote productivity. They promote a minimum effort to increase the need for more jobs when translates into more income for the union. I would personally have no problem with the big money union people make if I could feel assured they would and are giving their maximum effort in return. Now, who foots the bill for all this? The working middle class, the small businesspeople. They are, in my opinion, the ones who are abused and misused by over taxing, and under benefitting. Take the marriage tax where Gore and Clinton want to tax a working couple more simply because they have the moral values to want to be married. Their unmarried live-togethers pay less tax and there is no way that is morally or ethically responsible or fair. Yet, Gore and Clinton disagree. Of course, I believe Gore and Clinton, because of their belief in a central, bloated government would have trouble giving up any tax. They equate tax money with power for them. They want to control the money even while they are lousy stewards of it and waste the majority of the money they control. I am a very excited person about the potential of regaining integrity and leadership and fairness in the White House once again.
