CASTOR (CERN Advanced STORage Manager):

I have found a link to part of where CERN is at these days in terms of storage. The technical details are sketchy and it is a ppt presentation, but it is readable compared to the HTML on the web page:

wwwinfo.cern.ch

The web page for this project is:

wwwinfo.cern.ch

As suspected they say that HIPPI is critical. If you look at slide 3, they move a lot of data. The other presentation looks like a highspeed GFS or NFS type system where data is routed through a high speed router to gigabit switches sitting in front of storage. I assume those are FC switches.

Leitch Appoints Vice President and General Manager for Post Production

Brad Nogar Appointed to Lead New Business Line

11/06/2000, Chesapeake, Virginia -
Leitch Technology Corporation (TSE:LTV; NASDAQ:LVID) — a leading provider of high-quality digital video and audio solutions to the broadcasting, telecommunications, cable and Internet industries — today announced that it has appointed Brad Nogar, former president of Digital Processing Systems, U.S. division, to the position of vice president and general manager of Leitch’s newly formed post-production team.

Brad Nogar is a seasoned industry professional who gained his impressive experience through increasingly progressive marketing and management positions with such companies as Midwest Communications where he spent 12 years. As president of DPS, Brad was responsible for the sales, marketing, distribution and servicing of DPS products in the U.S., Canada and Latin America for the last ten years, as well as having played a key role in the development of many of DPS’ award-winning broadcast products.

Having recently completed the acquisition of DPS, Leitch is currently in the process of producing an efficient and strategic integration of the two organizations. The separate line of business is being formed within the Leitch structure in recognition of various unique aspects of the post-production market with which this new team will be expressly familiar. Working off the momentum of DPS’s core products, dpsVelocity™ and dpsReality™, Leitch’s post- production group plans to significantly expand the depth of the current line with new standard and high definition products already in development.

"The possibilities afforded by this new combination of talent and resources are incredibly exciting," says Brad. "Along with the potential for expansion within the post-production market, we have the opportunity to create synergies with other Leitch divisions and eventually branch into entirely new areas of growth."

Leitch Technology Corporation provides leading-edge solutions to store, switch, distribute, convert, and otherwise process high-quality audio and video signals. Applications for Leitch products span the broadcast, telco, cable, post production, Internet, and business-to-business markets. Leitch is headquartered in Toronto, ON Canada, with other key offices in Virginia, California, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong and Australia.
