Siemens hasn't crowed much about its 3G TD-SCDMA prospects with China recently... 3GPP's welcome into the Standards fold has been, at best, underwhelming...

So, Siemens moves on??

And China has a better horse to ride. I think, with its CDMA2000 convergence, LAS-CDMA IP becomes China's only opportunity to be a global player in 3G.

Toshiba and Siemens together had about 7% of the global market for cellular phone handsets in fiscal 1999, but they aim to increase that figure to over 10% through their agreement.

And this is not a small potatoes deal either.
