Actually you are wrong! 25 million in "deferred revenue" was booked in Q4. This is more revenue than was reported for royalties.

dmf> I have to ask what percent of Rambus's revenue can come from royalty payments without scaring investors? Or Mr. Briody.

Go for it!

Don,

Another article about the industry's feelings towards Rambus this time from the San Jose Mercury News:

"Nobody likes to pay royalties, but in my mind there are two kinds of
licensing arrangements,'' says Nathan Brookwood, the principal of
Insight64, a consulting firm based in Saratoga. ``One is where a
company does some design work, they've licensed that design work
to third parties, and the third parties really save something in their
development costs as a result.''

``The other is where the company comes in after the fact and says,
`Oh, by the way, we happen to own some of the fundamental things
on what's been designed. You didn't get any real economic benefit,
but we got to the patent office first. Nobody likes paying that.''

Nice to see that the market has discounted the Elpida announcement.
