That data sounds fishy.

8 million new seats of GroupWise last year??? The pricing models vary by licensing contract type, but you're talking about a MINIMUM of $480,000,000 in net new license revenues alone with an additional $96 million in associated maintenance revenues for almost $600 million in revenue associated with GroupWise alone.

That's fully half of total sales last year!!! And that doesn't include maintenance revenues from existing mailboxes.

You are telling me that the GroupWise franchise is worth $800-$1,000 million annually???

Following on about, the next GroupWise

As P J Strifas has said, the next GW looks good. The one thing Novell has under played, is the fact that it has API's at the server.

Server API's fix one of the biggest issues with the current GW. For most mail solutions you can purchase third party solutions for virus scanning and management. Without the API, the third party suppliers have not delivered for GW, or recommended GW to any customer who wanted to use their products.

So you think real news about Novell is Groupwise?

What are its revenues and how are they growing Peter?

Probably at the current rate and assuming Groupwise and Netware are around, they will have finally recovered what they paid for Aston-Tates empire in about 20 years.

Attend a few more of those seminars and you'll be ready for never never land.
