FORMULA PREDICTS GORE WIN IN ELECTORAL COLLEGE

Columbia University professors, Robert Erikson and Karl Sigman, issued a study arguing that if the popular vote is even, Gore would edge out Bush in the Electoral College tally.

Their formula predicts that unless Bush captures at least 51 percent of the two-party popular vote, Gore would win, due to his dominance in many of the largest states.
