Hi Dutch! I remember when I was in school we voted on who would be president and Kennedy won. We had a big student discussion on each of the candidates. I remember he was the first catholic and that was a mark against him. He still won our school poll and went on to win the election.

I will go with the Weekly Reader. Bush will win.

two opinions: Courtney Smith, Wayne Angell

Smith:
inflation indexes are down (CPI, CRB, etc)
interest rates are down (30yrTBond, 10yrTNotes)

with both banks and technology up simultaneously, STRONG BULL SIGNAL

Angell:
commodity prices down (Commodity Research Bureau)
gold is down (confirms lower inflation)
strong USdollar (slowing effect on our economy)

with inflation indications coming down, the Fed will be forced to cut rates, OR ELSE run the risk of a virtual tightening in the real rate of interest
(real rate of interest = TBond yield minus CPI inflation)

me:
with higher energy prices, an additional drag on economy
it is NOT an inflationary risk, but a profit squeeze reality
lower profits means reduced corporate spending
higher fuel cost means consumers have less for spending
