OT and FYI, here are the two main advantages Hotwire vs. PCLN. On Hotwire, you don't have to "guess" at a lowest price, you just tell them where and when you want to fly, and they come back in about 2 minutes with their lowest fare. Versus the PCLN mode, which feels like trying to negotiate price at a car dealership (i.e. make an offer and the salesman takes it to his manager).

Secondly, after Hotwire flashes the price, you have 1/2 hour to decide whether you want the ticket or not. PCLN gets your credit card info BEFORE you get the price, and once PCLN comes back with the price, you're locked in...no getting out.

There's also the turnaround difference (2 minutes Hotwire vs. an hour at PCLN). I've bought tickets through PCLN once and waiting an hour to hear whether you're in or not sucks big time.

I bought tickets to Omaha yesterday through Hotwire (flying tomorrow), regular fare on United was $550, Hotwire came back with $247 RT. Only drawbacks are that you can't specify the time of day you want to fly (same as PCLN) and you don't earn frequent flyer miles (same as PCLN).

Damn! I was going to short pcln at 10, but I have a rule against shorting a stock that is already down 90%. So now it is down 95%. Wonder if Shafter sold?
