Hi SbH - actually, I was counting on the former BCE holders and other former acquirees like CLFY etc selling for this descent. Maybe I was wrong! There were fund mgrs who claimed to have exit before the debacle. However, I don't know how many have done so afterwards.

There may be fund mgrs like Mr Bill Miller of Legg Mason who are conscientious to take tax into considerations [actually, he did more than that when he sold AMZN common and bought AMZN prefer,] but Tim is right, most don't care and MF shareholders end up footing the cap gain bill just the same!

There is another way to look at tax loss. I suspect many many people who have sustained so many hits --- not to mention margin calls --- have accumulated enough tax loss such that they don't need to sell another loser to be eligible for a few yrs of writeoff. Of course, they may also have locked in a lot of profit too. My guess is that the tax loss selling by individuals may not be as severe!

Or so I hope :)!

best, Bosco
