Whenever people point to examples of union problems, those examples are usually 20-30-40 years old. Not much to point to in recent years. There are some examples, of course, but for the most part, unions have done a pretty good job of cleaning up internal problems. I would also point out it's been a long time, for instance, since a congressional committee hauled in a bunch of Teamsters like RFK did with Hoffa back in the early '60s. If you watch C-Span these days, what you mostly see are congressmen grilling HMO execs on exclusionary practices, or grilling human resources people from IBM to explain their "pension deception." It ain't unions getting subpoenaed to appear before these committees, it's Big Business hacks.
