Love vs. Hate

I officially lost my ass with Qualcomm earlier this year, Rosalita. My holdings in "the Mighty Q" are fairly limited at this point. My IRA was a robust Qualcomm monster in January. I sold half of it last January to buy Qualcomm Jan2001's (strike price 175). Toast! Then this summer I sold more of my Qualcomm stock in my IRA to buy JDSU Dec 90's when JDSU was trading at 125. More toast! Then this fall I sold more of my Qualcomm stock in my IRA to buy RMBS Jan 70's. Might not be toast.

The bottom line is that my IRA is down about 90% since that surreal day in January when "the Mighty Q" nipped 200 for a period of time equivalent to various forms of bodily noise.

So? Not much that happens in the stock market these days really gets my blood churning anymore. A modest recovery of my IRA would make Christmas in Havana somewhat nicer, I have to admit. But there's no way I would ever risk money in my personal checking account on a tech stock again. It puts me in a world of make-believe. Borrowing to invest in the Q last December, seeing it go to the moon, and then seeing me lose it all was even more traumatic than having been married.

Love ya, Rosalita,
