YOu thought of that because it is so terribly important that we not allow ourselves to get so carried away that we begin to dictate how people must FEEL, a la Brave New World.
Political correctness skirts dangerously close to doing this. I think that's what everyone has been trying to say here today-- from the homophobic-heterophobic-mysogynistic discussion to my temper tantrum about GP's judging your "feelings" about your son.

Feelings are everything and they are nothing-- we must learn to deal with how they influence our thinking, but then we must act with reason and thoughtfulness and wisdom as best we can, regardless of the feelings.

You are raising children and you know how important it is to say to your child-"you may be angry, you may even feel that you hate, but you may not hit your brother with that bat."
Shall I start singing Feelings now?
I'm sure it will be lovely.

along those lines... the freedom to be stupid is what i call the freedom tax. it is a very REAL tax. the KEY imho, is to be true to what you believe is right and to always search for for an improved understanding of truth.

i believe a person is much wiser and smarter when they know how little they know of what there is to know than the person that knows it all.
