Maversick - Re: 'we cannot imagine how Intel will steer clear of pressure on
its gross profit margin. The planned ramp of 0.13 micron
manufacturing in late 2001 and 2002 is steep, with 8 fabs
coming up on the process – we think that the result has to
be capital spending of at least $6.5 billion in 2001'

The bean counter OSHA forgot a detail - Device sizes get SMALLER on 0.13 micron process - and the die cost goes down.

Also, a large percentage of those 8 fabs (about 5 of them) are already being depreciated - and the incremental depreciation cost to upgrade them will be modest.

Shows you that even an idiot can be a Merrill Flynch analyst.

Ever wonder why Osha Joe is not a Technology Development engineer at AMD or Intel?

The depreciation and cost data that Intel showed yesterday
were interesting, but were not sufficient to change our
thinking."

Intel will have EIGHT (8) 0.13 micron fabs ?

Gee...how many 0.13 micron fabs will AMD have to go up against Intel?

That makes YOU and OSHA look kinda dumb - ignoring the supreme manufacturing competitive advantage Intel will have over its competition.
