It will effect election, and will effect biotech valuation.

Should be some biotech dumping tomorrow a.m - however, maybe some good buying opportunities at some point.

Very hard to tell how this will play out for biotechs over the next 6 months should Gore get elected. He may just continue Clinton policies as it concerns relations with drug companies, prescription drugs, and even possible price controls. Gore may not get what he wants on drug legislation, as his election may not be viewed in mandate terms. Perhaps something can be worked out to keep biotech innovation going.

However, had Bush been elected next Tuesday, I believed that would have been very positive for biotechs near term at least. At this point based upon what I am hearing tonight from different sources, Bush appears that he will not be elected.

Article in S.F. Chronicle (10.2.00) notes decrease in VC funding for dot-com's. Continues with, "As investors shifted their investment focus, health care companies enjoyed a record quarter, raising $1.6 billion in 126 deals. Biopharmaceuticals companies raised a record $663.6 million, almost 25 percent more than the second quarter". Which leads me to wonder, how investors may shift their focus to biotechs. At what point will managers of growth funds make serious commitments to biotech. FWIW, I heard that mutual funds cash positions are at the highest levels since 11.98.

Sorry, Richard. Bush is a dope.

From the New York Times, Friday, Nov. 3:

"This frightens some in Washington," Mr. Bush said, "because they want the federal government controlling the Social Security like it's some kind of federal program."
